RTITB lift truck training instructors are invited to compete in the first ever RTITB Lift Truck Instructor of the Year competition which is being run in association with official partners FoodEx and UniCarriers. The Grand Final will be held at the Foodex exhibition on 20th April at the NEC, Birmingham
Building on the success of RTITB’s Forklift Operator of the Year competition, which has been taking place since 2008, the Lift Truck Instructor of the Year event is a new competition that celebrates the hard work and skill of the UK and Ireland’s top instructors.
“It’s important that we recognise all the fantastic work that our instructors do,” says Laura Nelson, Managing Director of RTITB, the UK’s leading workplace transport training body. “This is a dangerous industry and in order to provide safe, effective training the quality of the instructor is crucial. With the ongoing success of the Forklift Operator of the Year competition, we wanted to give the same incentive and reward to the instructors who work so hard to train the new generation of safe, skilled drivers.”
The top 10 entrants to the Lift Truck Instructor of the Year competition will have the chance to compete among the best instructors in the country and display their talents in front of an audience of industry professionals, gaining recognition for themselves and their companies.
Ten finalists will compete at the RTITB Lift Truck Instructor of the Year which will take place on the final day of the Foodex exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham on 20th April. The final will consist of four live tests covering practical truck operation, underpinning knowledge, pre-use truck inspection and delivery of a pre-allocated training lesson. The winner will be announced at the exhibition and given an exclusive trophy and prize.
Foodex is one of the nation’s most important exhibitions for the food and drink industry. Hundreds of suppliers and exhibitors concerned with the processing, packaging and logistics of food and drink products, from food retailers to supply chain professionals and warehouse managers will be attending.
“The food and drink industry relies heavily on forklift drivers and instructors so we felt that Foodex would be the perfect place to host the event,” Laura adds. “Anyone that has seen the RTITB Forklift Operator of the Year finale will know that these live tests are challenging but we’ve no doubt that the nation’s instructors are up to the task. It’s going to be an exciting event.”
RTITB registered instructors are invited to take part and can email amy_southall@rtitb.co.uk for an entry form. Once registration is complete, instructors will be required to complete an underpinning knowledge assessment from which the top ten entrants will be chosen to participate in the grand final at Foodex.
