The Big Box Group is a collection of businesses providing intralogistics, automation and temporary and permanent buildings to customers across a wide number of industries.
Big Box Group, founded by Iain Gillard over a decade ago, started out as a supplier of racking and storage but as the industry has changed immeasurably over the past decade, so has Big Box Group. Now a full integrator, the group comprises of three sister companies (Big Box Intralogistics, Big Box Buildings and Big Box Automation) which can work together to provide a full turn-key solution or each can provide an excellent standalone service.
Big Box Intralogistics was first on the scene and operated successfully on its own for over 10 years but in 2018 Big Box Buildings was added (headed up by director of Buildings, Ian Mackenzie) and specialises in the supply of temporary to fully steel building solutions across a wide range of applications – for example industrial storage, workshops, commercial and retail facilities, business continuity and disaster recover. The events of the past year has seen a surge in demand as businesses have had to adapt to changes in demand and new ways of working.
The most recent addition to the group has been Big Box Automation, added a year ago due to the growth in E-commerce in the UK and to feed the increased demand for robotics.
Leading industry professional, Jason Dyche joined the group as director of Automation and has brought with him a wealth of knowledge on the subject. The aim of Big Box Automation is to “use data to identify cost-saving opportunities and help our clients hit their targets and achieve their objectives” says Dyche. In order to achieve this, Big Box Automation have formed sister partnerships with leading robotics suppliers, Grey Orange, ProGlove and Balyo.
“At Big Box Automation we use data to identify cost-saving opportunities. Picking, moving and sorting takes a varying amount of time depending on the technology you use, so we look at where the gaps are and provide solutions like ProGlove that can really speed up the process,” adds Dyche. And it is going well, Dyche is currently working on a number of exciting projects with technology continuing to influence our day to day lives, through the emergence of online delivery, which is driven by automation and robotics. Big Box wants to make that same technology available across all business sectors.
