The announcement comes days after the Government and the EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation joined forces, in a drive to get more UK manufacturers exporting and boost the chances of hitting the one trillion-pound export target by 2020. ‘Britain’s Global Adventure: The Export Opportunity’, aims to aid and inspire an additional 100,000 British companies to export by 2020.

With the new partnership, Applegate’s customers will be able to promote their products and services to professional buyers in Germany, Switzerland and Austria who use wlw – together almost double the size of the UK economy.

Applegate and wlw will also share knowledge to support the development of their businesses, with regular meetings taking place in Barnstaple and Hamburg.

Stuart Brocklehurst, CEO of Applegate Marketplace, commented, “Exports are key to the growth of the economy and offer a great opportunity for British businesses to expand. Too often, though, firms are put off by the costs and challenges of marketing overseas. This partnership with the leading business website in Germany provides an easy and effective way for UK companies to market their products in the largest economy in Europe.”

Peter Schmid, CEO of wlw, said, “We are delighted to partner with Applegate. As we’ve discussed working together we’ve found we think alike about business and technology; the partnership will help German and UK businesses to significantly increase their custom base.”
