Northern Freight Services is a haulage, distribution and warehousing company based in the North East of England. It was established in 1978 in Sunderland and today the company is still privately owned and family-run.
Northern Freight Services has the capacity to offer its customers 180,000 square foot of internal warehouse space, along with nine acres of external storage space.
The company also offers a variety of transport services to its customers, from small local businesses to large worldwide blue chip companies.
To assist with the processes of handling its goods, the company contacted material handling expert, B&B Attachments, to provide a solution to improve its productivity when material handling. The distribution and warehousing company required specialist attachments to handle large tyres for Caterpillar Articulated Trucks. The tyres need to be lifted safely, rotated and inspected before being transported to Caterpillar in Peterlee, County Durham.
To ensure this material handling process is as safe, effective and precise as possible B&B provided Northern Freight Services with a KAUP 4.8T453 Rotating Bale Clamp. This robust attachment rotates hydraulically 360-degrees in both directions. The inside of the clamp arms of this attachment is optimised for damage-free lifting, clamping and transporting and is designed with toe-in on the tips.
B&B Attachments also supplied a KAUP 3T408P Tyre Clamp for handling stacks. This is suitable for the transport of vertical stacks of tyres, fitted with large contact pads to ensure the stack is fully secured and provide stable and safe handling. The attachments were fitted to JCB Teletrucks supplied by Permatt Fork Lift Trucks.
