Each year the directors at London & Home Counties Today will take an in-depth look at businesses across London and the surrounding areas in search of organisations that have best demonstrated their ability to go above and beyond – ensuring that they don’t simply meet their customers’ expectations but consistently exceed them. Those that meet the criteria are awarded a Business Achievement Award; the award is recognised both locally and nationally and looks to congratulate those businesses that have shown excellence across an array of disciplines.

In 2011 Cawarden Brick & Tile were rewarded with the BA Award for Brick Recycling Specialists of the Year. As a large supplier of reclaimed and period building materials in the UK, the company were delighted to receive the award. Founder Richard Parrott said the recognition would hopefully help to highlight the importance of using reclaimed building materials. With millions of tonnes of used materials going to waste year on year, the company hope that reusing materials becomes a more and more popular practice over the coming years as the demand for period properties rises.

With a 10 acre site and a showroom covering 10,000 sq ft, Cawarden Brick & Tile have the largest stock of reclaimed bricks and tiles in the country and are a favourite for local craftsmen and interior designers as well as builders and architects.

Alongside their showroom, they also have a fantastic workshop where they can carry out bespoke joinery as well as timber cutting and finishing services.

‘Passionate About the Environment’

Cawarden Brick & Tile are renowned for their dedication to reducing their carbon footprint and using processes and standards that substantially reduce wastage of precious resources and limit the use of fossil fuels. They also provide a shuttle service from Rugeley Trent Valley Station to Cawarden in order to reduce road miles for their customers.

In addition to their shuttle service, Cawarden Brick & Tile also goes the extra mile to ensure that all their packaging is either made from recycled material or sustainable sources. A mere 1% of the companies waste is sent to landfill; the rest is segregated and sent for recycling.

Every green initiative the company has implemented has not only been to reduce their own carbon footprint and create savings for themselves, it’s also been targeted towards improving their customer experience.
