A new, compact label and wristband printer, the CG4, designed for general purpose barcode label applications, has been launched in the UK by SATO. The CG4 is said to offer top-end performance at affordable prices. Suitable for on-demand low to mid-range volumes, it can be used to print labels up to four inches wide, wristbands, tags or receipts across a range of industries from manufacturing, transport and retailing, to food packaging and healthcare.

Similar to the CG2 launched earlier this year, the CG4 can be used for shipping and compliance labelling, product identification labels and tags, item tracking and a host of other everyday labelling and identification needs.

Because it is compact and can be run without a PC using SATO’s standalone keypad option, this new model can be sited almost anywhere, from front office to warehouse, packing station, factory floor, customer counter or laboratory.

The CG4 is said to be useful where hygiene is important, such as in a food handling or healthcare environment as it features an anti-microbial casing.

In addition to printing 4-inch (105mm) labels, the CG4 comes in a choice of 203 or 305 dpi (dots per inch) and thermal transfer/direct thermal versions. It incorporates the latest in on-board linear and 2D barcode symbologies, including GS1 Databar, which enables more information than ever before to be incorporated into a smaller barcode.
