European Supply Chain Day 2016 is confirmed to take place on Thursday 21st April. The event, now in its third year, is a unique opportunity to promote, celebrate and raise awareness of the logistics and supply chain profession across the continent

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is the primary sponsor for all UK based European Supply Chain Day activities and CILT is encouraging all levels of participation from both individuals and organisations.

As we continue to face increasing challenges in our ever-changing industry such as skills shortages, the driver shortage and an ageing workforce, in addition to the lack of recognition the logistics and supply chain profession receives, this is the ideal opportunity to celebrate and promote all things logistics and engage with our next generation.

European Supply Chain Day gives companies the chance to showcase their abilities and contribution to the local areas in which they operate. Companies may wish to host an open day, invite local dignitaries, the local press or visit local schools to promote the logistics profession.

Bill Acres FCILT will again be the champion for the day’s activities here in the UK. Bill has been an active member of the Institute for over 31 years and runs Acres & Acres Supply Chain Consulting Ltd, an independent consultancy operating in the supply chain sector.

Bill said: ‘I am thrilled to be involved with European Supply Chain Day for the second year in a row. This is a truly exciting opportunity for our profession and I look forward to working with business and individuals to ensure that we make some noise about and celebrate our profession.’

Kevin Richardson FCILT, Chief Executive, CILT, said: ‘European Supply Chain Day is a great initiative for all to get involved with. This is the perfect platform for all those in our profession to showcase the great work we do as an industry and I encourage you all to participate.’
