Dearman, the clean cold technology company, has been selected to participate in the UK Green Tech Forum, which takes place this week in Osaka, Japan. As one of five companies taking part, Dearman will present its revolutionary liquid-air technologies and share insights into how cutting-edge clean cold technologies can contribute to the burgeoning green technology sector in Japan.

Michael Ayres, Deputy Chief Executive, Dearman, said: “We look forward not only to building on existing relationships, but also to meeting new potential development partners and customers for our cutting-edge clean cold technology. Japan’s low-carbon and green technology cluster is growing rapidly and presents a significant commercial opportunity for clean tech developers, as well as real potential for inward investment in the UK and Thames Valley. Osaka, and the wider Kansai region, have strong interests in the energy and low-carbon sectors, as well as a reputation for the manufacture of novel technologies. With the support of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, we hope to establish long-term relationships in the Osaka region.”

Dearman technology harnesses the unique properties of liquid nitrogen to deliver efficient, cost effective and crucially zero-emission cold and power. The first application of this technology, a zero-emission transport refrigeration unit, has been undergoing successful trials throughout 2015, and will begin a commercial field trial in the coming months. It offers a commercially viable solution to operators while helping to address growing concerns about the environmental impact of cooling, placing Dearman at the forefront of the burgeoning clean-cold-and-power sector.

Further applications of Dearman technology include a liquid-air-diesel hybrid engine for buses and HGVs, and a zero-emission back-up power and cooling system for the built environment. These applications are being developed in conjunction with the company’s other R&D activities, including research in to how waste cold can be harnessed from LNG import terminals to create low-carbon, low-cost liquid nitrogen.

The three-day trade and investment programme is hosted jointly by the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) Kansai, and the Osaka City Government. The event serves to further strengthen commercial links between Osaka and the Thames Valley.

This news comes soon after Dearman’s participation in a successful UKTI trade mission to India, which highlighted the brightest, best and most innovative aspects of the UK’s food and drink industry. Visiting Mumbai and Bangalore, Dearman showcased its cutting-edge liquid air clean cold and power technologies, which could help India to establish joined up cold-chains without creating significant environmental consequences.

Dearman’s visit to Japan, builds upon strong international connections that have already been established in important markets including Malaysia, Singapore and the USA.
