Students at the Madani Schools Federation are enjoying a recently refurbished outdoor relaxation zone, thanks to a donation from resistors manufacturer, Cressall. The zone, which includes a water feature surrounded by trees, provides a space for students to gather their thoughts between classes, away from the hustle and bustle of the school buildings.
Relations with the local school are important to the community support offered by the Leicester-based engineering firm, which opened its second site in 2017.
The Federation, which educates 300 boys and girls from 11-16 years of age, aims to provide children with the opportunities to achieve excellence in both their education and personal development.
The £500 donation is the latest to be made as part of a long-standing relationship between Cressall and the Madani Schools Federation.
With the government’s plans to cut school funding for the first time since the mid-1990s, external support from companies such as Cressall is gratefully welcomed.
Producer of power resistors for the marine, defence and renewable energy sectors, Cressall, which recently opened its second facility, has been manufacturing in Leicester for the past 23 years.
“Building and maintaining local relationships is very important to everybody at Cressall,” explained David Moore, operations manager at Cressall. “We have a history of supporting the Madani School and are proud of the connection and friendship that has built through the past few years.”
Mark Hendry, assistant business manager at the Madani Schools Federation, added: “The relaxation zone is well-used by the students of the Madani School. Thanks to Cressall, the zone is now enhanced by the restoration of the water fountain and planting of trees. We are sure students will enjoy the calm surroundings for many years to come.”
