Eurocharts is a family business that has been established for over 30 years. We specialise exclusively in the design, distribution and production of a diverse array of visualisation and planning systems, making any planning requirement obtainable, in a unique and elusive ‘Big Picture’ format. Our products range from magnetic production scheduling boards, T-Card systems and printed whiteboards to document display pockets and cascading racks, all of which are available in kit and bespoke form.
An advantage of being a specialist company is the ability to react quickly and dynamically to market demands. For example, several new products and systems have been developed and added to our range to meet the ever increasing demand for lean Management, Continuous Improvement and Kanban business disciplines. These new products include kit and custom built production scheduling boards, workstation document display units, colour coded document display racks and a plethora of magnetic accessories.
One of the most common questions we are asked is, “Are planning boards still operating in this modern computer dominated world?”. The simple answer is yes, look around any office or workplace and you will see whiteboards, year planners, holiday schedules, paper charts and even a series of post it notes! These are all forms of manual planning and information systems which play integral roles in the day to day running of any modern business.
Although software planning systems have largely replaced the traditional role of planning display boards, this has not irradiated the demand for visual planning systems, but instead has prompted product development to fulfil a new and important role of supporting computer systems. Computers excel at storing the
numerous and detailed components of a plan, yet are unable to provide the required summary overview or ‘Big Picture’ as multiple screen scrolling and rapidly out of date printouts are insufficient, particularly when the schedule is required to be viewed in its entirety and production or planning meetings. Thus, planning boards and associated systems provide a pivotal link, communicating information from the detailed software plan to an easy to read overview of the complete schedule. In addition, such systems can be rapidly updated providing a ‘Big Picture’ of the current planning position, enabling informed decisions or amendments to be confidently taken.
Furthermore, a planning board may stand alone should software not provide the style or detail of visual information deemed essential to the smooth running of a department. These planning board designs need not to be complicated, as the golden rule in planning systems is keeping the information display simple.
All Eurocharts planning display boards and magnetic display board systems are used across a wide variety of establishments and are exported worldwide. Businesses range from the smallest one-man companies to the largest international organisations including Government Departments, the NHS, Local Authorities and the Ministry of Defence.
