Hinges
Lift-off, screw-on, weld-on, surface mounted, concealed, continuous, butt style and Snapline – the team here at FDB Panel Fittings have found that hinge solutions for construction of electrical and 19” industrial cabinets require a high degree of design flexibility in combination with stability and security during operation. It was from this close relationship with the specialist panel industry that a new 180° “pop and click” lift-off door hinge was developed. Not only is fitting and removal toolless and remarkably quick, providing easy door removal, but it also retains the hinge pin – so no more having to keep track of fiddly pins.
Of particular interest at this time is the DST hinge Pr05 180° for single cabinets with surface mounted doors, either right or left handed. This removable pin hinge is easily installed without the use of tools – the DST part simply snaps into the cabinet frame while the door component is retained by the hinge pin. For harsh conditions when stainless steel is a preferred option, there is a parallel version in AISI 316 stainless steel which can be upgraded to IP65 by use of an optional O-ring.
This dualling of black zinc die with a stainless steel variant carries through to the DST corner hinge Pr04 180° which offers traditional lift-off R/L with IP65 protection degree. In this case the snap-in options can be supplied for either hinge half or for both – thus greatly speeding installation and saving assembly costs.
Snapline and DIRAK-SNAP-Technology (DST) hinges and fasteners
We have been excited by the possibilities of the SNAP-LINE® range for use in fabricating flat pack enclosures as illustrated by the videos available on our YouTube channel. The D-SNAP technology has been designed for quick easy use and has been applied to a full range of components from panel joiners to hinges and swinghandles so that a complete assembly may be produced for flat transport and simple assembly on site.
We now offer the full range of locks/handles, hinges, compression latches, quarter-turns, swinghandles, joining elements, pull handles and slam latches which are likely to interest specialist enclosure or cabinet builders who are looking for a simple labour saving way to rationalise panel punching and subsequent assembly.
This unique modular technology requires only rectangular hole punching to suit the relevant component which can then be pushed into place by hand to achieve a firm positive fit. The system can be used to fabricate complete cabinets by means of joining elements which can hold sides to back, panels to frames – other components then complete the assembly with snap-in hinges and door closure/security items and so on to ensure a “locked-in” tight fit once installed and a robust assembly when in use.
An excellent example is the 40mm long cast hinges with 180° capability and sealing capacity to IP65 with RH or LH operation which may be used on standalone enclosures/racks or on suited style side-by-side installations with three versions available – with M5 cast in screws, with screws on one leaf and SNAP-LINE® fitting on the other leaf – or with SNAP-LINE® (D-SNAP®) technology on both leaves to enable a simple “blind” push-in fitting that does not require access from the rear – this can provide up to 90% savings in hinge assembly time.
Among other places the FDB Panel Fittings range of fasteners find application in shop fitting manufacture, not only quarter-turn locks and swinghandles in checkout islands but also quick-fix/release fasteners around the display section of stores where they may be used to hold price indicators, product cards and special offers.
Window seals and gasekting + RFI Shielding Gasket
Self-clamping profiles, channel sealing, window seals, rectangular seals, foam tapes, clip-on profiles.
Whether you call them gasket, sealing profiles or window seals, these and associated accessories for virtually all industrial enclosure, cabinet and specialist vehicle applications are available from our online store.
Where electromagnetic compatibility is necessary, we can also supply special profiles with EMC/RFI shielding in combination with water and dust sealing. These EMC/RFI shielding profiles are electronically compatible with a clip-on mounting feature and a Cu/Sn fleece coating to provide the shielding characteristics. Contact our team here.
These EPDM sections are available from our Online store and are suitable for use with glass, polycarbonate or acrylic window panes on specialist enclosure or cabinet doors as well as for inspection panels on machinery or on vehicles, trailers etc.
Careful selection of standard gasket profiles from our range of EPDM/CR/NB/PVC sealing profiles can help in obtaining the proper level of IP sealing for specialist enclosures and cabinets – whether channel mounting, self-clamping, rectangular foam, round/castellated, clip-on P section, wiping section, window section or with EMC/RFI protective capability.
