Basingstoke based Gordian Strapping, one of the UK’s leading end-of-line specialists in pack and pallet securement, has provided a new Horizontal Stretch Wrapper for a leading major tool brand, Draper Tools at its 400,000 sqft premises in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire, probably the largest stock of
tools in one place in the UK.
Draper Tools, established in 1919, has a long-standing pedigree for supplying quality goods. Draper sells products into all major markets including automotive, builders, DIY, gardening, construction, decorating and engineering, and has more recently diversified into hobby, leisure and other non-tool lines.
The improvement to Draper’s end-of-line packaging system was the installation of a TE600B Horizontal Stretch Wrapper (also known as a Tunnel, Spiral or Orbital Wrapper). This compact machine built by FEV (Germany) and installed and maintained by Gordian Strapping, can be positioned and operated in confined areas and is clean and easy to use for multiple operators. Furthermore the wrapper provides considerable cost savings, not only over traditional packing methods but also in labour costs. Draper has a long established relationship with Gordian, who is their sole supplier of strapping machines and strapping consumables.
“When we found out that Gordian had this new wrapper available we jumped at the chance to see it demonstrated, and the benefits of this wrapper were immediately obvious to us. We thought it was excellent value for money and knowing Gordian were supplying it made our decision all the more straight forward,’ says Keith Mclean, warehouse manager.
