Kite Packaging, one of the leading UK packaging distributors, has launched its brand new ‘Essential Packaging Guide’ for customers and prospective clients. The guide includes tips and advice about choosing the right product, and features brand new solutions recently launched on the company website – www.kitepackaging.co.uk

The guide has been positioned as a ‘packaging catalogue with a difference’ as it focuses on clear, user-friendly diagrams, to help customers choose the right packaging for their product and industry, and has refrained from traditional catalogue features such as complex pricing tables.

The guide also gives customers some easy-to-read information about tape adhesives, board grades and polythene thicknesses which are essential in choosing the right packaging products. Kite hope that the new guide will act as a purchasing aid for buyers, and give some genuine insight to the huge range of products they have available.

Included in the guide are two new ranges of products – pallet wrapping machines and gummed paper tape dispensers. As part of Kite’s ongoing commitment to bringing in more automation for its customers, the new solutions aim to save customers time, cost and help to reduce damage rates on products.

In particular, Kite’s extensive range of pallet wrapping machines have landed at a hugely competitive price, with an entry-level model costing just £2,495. This is just one of the five turntable systems available through Kite Packaging, and all in just a click of a button.

With varying levels of controls, for implementation in even the most complex packing environments, each turntable machine can be adjusted to accommodate varying turntable speeds, number of wraps and to alter the tension.

Kite is so impressed with the new range; they have brought in two Rotoplat 708 models for their own operation. The most comprehensive machine out of the turntable systems, it features 15 adjustable parameters and an intuitive multi-level control function, which allows the user to programme each pallet layer differently. The function means you can apply high tension to some pallet layers, and low tension to others, as well as adjusting the number of wraps for each level.

Additionally, two robot machines have also been introduced to the website offering. These ‘Mobile Pallet Wrappers’ are less well-known than traditional turntable systems, but increasing in popularity. Ideal for oddly shaped pallets and ‘ugly’ freight, they move around the load to stabilise it, eliminating the need to maneuverer a load on to a wrapping base.

Kite’s gummed paper tape offering has also been expanded to allow for a much more competitive range of machinery. Gummed paper tape has become increasingly popular in fulfilment and e-commerce operations in recent years, due to the high tack it offers that provides security and damage-prevention advantages.

It is made from paper, with a natural adhesive that is activated by water, and therefore must be used in conjunction with a gummed paper tape dispenser. Kite’s new range of dispenser includes a manual model which is incredibly cost-effective when compared with the leading brands, at £249 it can dispense lengths of up to 42 inches and can accommodate varying widths of tape due to its adjustable roll carriage.

The company also supplies a simple ‘pull and tear’ dispenser for low volume operations and a more advanced electronic machine.

The guide also contains information about products exclusive to Kite Packaging – including the Enviropad system, Kite Mini Air, Kite Air Shock and Kite Wrap & Hold which are supplied by the company’s S3 (Specialist Services and Solutions) division. All the systems have become well-known in the industry and are aimed at reducing cost, damages and packing time for the customer.

A spokesman from Kite Packaging said; “We’re really pleased with our ‘Essential Packaging Guide’ and hope that it will be something customers will keep and refer to when they are choosing packaging products. We wanted the guide to be less about selling and more about providing our customers with insight and useful information, so they can feel confident when buying from us.”

The launch comes at a time of significant growth for the company, who have just announced the acquisition of Burnhead Packaging Supplies in Sittingbourne, as well as two branch expansions in Swindon and Portsmouth. Kite Packaging have also recently launched its National Charity programme, which saw the business donate £1,000 each to seven employee-nominated UK charities.
