Award winning lifting and loading specialist, Transdek has been named as a safecontractor approved company for a fourth consecutive year, demonstrating its continued commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety.

safecontractor is a health and safety assessment scheme that is recognised all over the UK as a leading third party accreditation system, which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors.

As well as a reputation for innovation, Transdek ensures that all of its British designed and manufactured products conform to the highest standards of operation. From ease of installation, whether simple mezzanine floor lifts or its ground breaking double deck lift pods, safety is a key factor throughout the engineering process that customers can rely on.

Following the thorough vetting process, which examines Transdek’s health and safety procedures and the company’s track record for safe working practice, Leon Butler, Transdek’s General Manager & Director, commented: “The safety and health of our employees, customers and others who may be affected by our operations is paramount. The safecontractor scheme recognises this in our systems, processes and people, and gives customers complete confidence that we work to the highest standards.

“In addition to this accreditation, our fully trained engineers and installers are registered under the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) as further proof of their occupational competence.”

With HSE statistics showing that the loading bay is one of the most dangerous areas of the workplace, Butler added: “Not only is it important that we continue to operate with the highest levels of health and safety ourselves, but our products also help to protect the safety of our customers’ operators. This is why all of Transdek’s products are designed to include comprehensive safety features over and above the requirements of British and European standards.”

John Kinge, technical director of safecontractor, said: ‘Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.’

‘More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Transdek has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”

The safety of Transdek’s innovative double deck and V2G lifts, which are built with more safety features than any other comparable product, was also acknowledged at the 2010 IMHX show when they won the Design4Safety (Automation) award.
