AV Technology, and its partner Tan Delta, have won the Lions’ Lair competition at Maintec 2013. The company secured the top innovation slot for its ROC 500 Rapid Oil Checker, which it also officially launched at the show.
The ROC 500 enables the quality of oils and lubricants to be accurately checked on the spot, eliminating the need for expensive, unnecessary laboratory testing of perfectly good samples. Users can find out instantly whether the oil is working well or has degraded beyond its ability to lubricate correctly. It can also indicate whether the samples should be sent away for detailed laboratory analysis or whether an immediate oil change is needed. The easy-to-use product requires only basic training to carry out the single-step analysis. The readings are always accurate as the system uses a database of values verified each month by independent experts.
The judges, including Kim Tooley, Maintenance Consultant at Thames Water, Colin Medway, Maintenance Manager at Kerry Ingredients and Frank McAlister, Maintenance Manager at Jaguar, were impressed by these many features plus the ROC 500’s portability.
It is fitting that the product is being launched at Maintec, as the concept is the result of a discussion held at the show a year ago.
Steve Mottershead, managing director of AV Technology says:”It’s amazing to think that just a year ago we kicked around this idea and here we are today launching a major new product. Winning Lions’ Lair at Maintec is the perfect launchpad for the ROC 500.”
AV Technology, which plans to take the product into international markets in quarter three, saw off stiff competition from other Lions’ Lair participants, CRC Industries, Bel-Ray and R STAHL.
Jake Morrison, event manager, Maintec says: “It’s wonderful to think that a product which was no more than a discussion at the show a year ago is now ready for UK and then global roll-out. The ROC 500 is a worthy winner that vividly illustrates the level of product innovation at Maintec 2013 and the powerful connections that can be made at the show. I’d urge anyone who hasn’t come along yet to quickly head to the NEC.”
Lions’ Lair took place on the first day of Maintec. The three day show, which continues until Thursday 7th March, includes a range of exhibitors as well as a HAZEX area. Visitors can also attend Maintec’s first ever complimentary Business Strategy Conference, where experts from PepsiCo and Britvic are among the speakers. Maintec also includes The Maintenance Exchange programme featuring 38 learnShops delivered by some of the show’s most innovative exhibitors. Maintec is free to attend and pre-registration is advised to avoid queues on the day. To register, visit www.easyfairs.com/Maintecuk
