Value driven maintenance experts, Mainnovation, will be hosting a new free ‘maintenance business experience’ workshop at Maintec 2012 on Wednesday 29 March 2012. The full-day workshop is designed to help delegates transform their maintenance departments into professional maintenance organisations that create real value for their company.

Maintec showcases a wide range of leading maintenance suppliers as well as a variety of show features to help visitors build their skills, source new ideas and products and keep up-to-speed with the latest developments in the industry.

The ‘maintenance business experience’ workshop is based on the successful philosophy of value driven maintenance. Mick Saltzer, managing consultant at Mainnovation who will be running the workshop, comments: “Being responsible for maintenance or asset management performance is not the easiest job. Whether your equipment is old and worn out or brand new and state of the art, you will face technical challenges on a daily basis.”

He continues: “But the real challenge is adopting the best approach. Empowering people, improving work processes and leveraging the latest tools all sounds good, but its finding the best way to address these issues that’s critical. Our workshop will tackle these important issues.”

The workshop, which runs from 10am – 4pm, will be working closely with all delegates, looking at: the results they have achieved so far, and how they compare to other companies in their industry sector; whether they should focus on more uptime or reduce costs; and what the priority improvement activities they should focus on and the results they will bring.

Matt Benyon, managing director of easyFairs UK & Ireland, comments: “If you are responsible for improving performance and finding solutions to help the business’s bottom line, then you need to be taking part in Mainnovation’s maintenance business experience workshop. This is an invaluable workshop that Mainnovation is providing free of charge at the show to benefit our visitors, which will really help maintenance professionals drive change at a strategic level. We are delighted to be working with Mainnovation on this initiative.”

Since being founded in 2000, Mainnovation has seen a steady growth rate of 30 per cent each year. It now owns offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, US and the UK, bringing a balanced mix of consultancy skills and line management experience.

During the workshop, delegates are invited to take part in an inspiring maintenance game. Here delegates will have the chance to learn from these experts in an interactive small-group scenario, and  find out that they can monitor their strategy with a limited set of closely linked KPIs, create value for their business, and experience the difference between value and non-value adding activities, best practices and decision-making.

Saltzer explains: “This dedicated maintenance game is dynamic like real life and has been played at maintenance events all over the world, so there is a record performance to beat. As the management of a maintenance organisation delegates will compete in teams to create the most valuable maintenance organisation. Analysing KPIs and benchmarking data will help them make fact-based decisions to improve performance and create value.

“The strategy and decisions of all the teams are entered in a simulation tool. The results of all the teams will then be analysed and discussed, so they are not only learning from their own actions but also from the decisions of the other teams. The team that creates the most economic value wins the prestigious ‘Most Valuable Maintenance Organisation’ award.”
