With only weeks to go, the NEC is set to become the focus of the largest manufacturing and engineering event of 2012. The Plant & Asset Management Exhibition, International Fluid Power Exhibition (IFPEX), Drives and Controls Show, and Air-Tech, taking place between 17-19th April 2012, at the NEC Birmingham will form part of the manufacturing and engineering series of shows alongside MACH. Show organiser DFA Media believes its series of events ensures industry professionals will be able to gain the broadest insight concerning what industry solutions are currently available on the market

The Plant & Asset Management Exhibition
A highlight of the co-location of events at the NEC, Birmingham between the 17-19 April 2012 is the launch of the NEW UK dedicated event for the maintenance sector, solely concerned with maintenance management, predictive maintenance and CMMS  – Plant & Asset Management 2012.

Bringing these events together provides an integrated networking and exhibition platform for engineering decision makers that will be a highly focused environment with added value for the visitor.

Most comprehensive maintenance seminar programme of 2012
Running alongside Plant & Asset Management will be one of the most comprehensive series of maintenance focused technical seminars and workshops of 2012, covering a diverse range of topics that will be of interest and value to plant, maintenance and asset management professionals, as well as act as a networking opportunity for the exchange of ideas and experiences.

The show will have two free dedicated seminar theatres, with sessions being presented by industry experts from suppliers, trade associations or professional bodies. Topics and sessions will cover everything from asset management to vibration analysis, condition monitoring to PAS 55, accelerometers to thermography, plus much more – including industrial case studies from frontline practitioners.

To give a flavour of the depth and range of seminar topics being presented, the following are just two of the presentations taking place:
Andrew Stevens, from EA Technology, will deliver the session on ‘Condition Assessment of HV Assets’, against the following synopsis: EA Technology has developed condition assessment techniques over the last 40 years that are recognised and used globally. Andrew will describe these techniques and explain that, when used in conjunction with the Health & Safety Guidelines, HSG230, they not only make sure legal obligations are met but also ensure the continuous operation of high voltage assets.

While Brian Forrest from Pruftechnik will present a seminar titled: The Evolution and Use of Condition Monitoring in UK Process Industry. He will claim that many organisations faced with complex analysis and condition monitoring (CM) systems have resisted the implementation of monitoring on their plant because it meant time-consuming and expensive investment in equipment and specialist operators. This need not be so, modern CM systems can be portable or fixed on-line (wired or wireless) and very cost-effective to implement and, importantly, to run. Forrest will be demonstrating the benefits and cost savings that will be returned by operating a CM system.

Other sessions will include: The early and accurate detection of rolling element bearing faults; Risk mitigation through strategic maintenance and reliability; Knowledge management and global asset management; OEE and effective asset management; and Linking maintenance and asset management.

Combined the seminar theatres will give delegates the opportunity to pick up best practice tips and valuable advice from a variety of speakers, representing a cross section of the engineering and manufacturing sector.

Please note you will need to book in advance to guarantee a seat, as some seminars have already sold out.

Competitive edge
In addition exhibitors at Plant & Asset Management 2012 will be demonstrating the latest technological advances and management techniques to help companies achieve world-class status. Leading names at the event include: Antech Hydraulics, Artesis, Das Developments, Emerson Process Management, Flir Systems, EA Technology, Fluke (UK), Forward Industrial Products, GDO Engineering, Helmets UK, Idhammar Systems, Keytracker, Mainnovation, Mistras, Monition, Petro-Canada, Pruftechnik, Schaeffler, SKF, Strategic Maintenance, Tempus Software, Testo, Triple R UK, and Xetec, plus many more – please visit the show website for a full listing.

Ryan Fuller, exhibition sales director at DFA Media commented on the forthcoming event: “This is an exciting opportunity for the UK maintenance sector to promote and share their wide knowledge base and diverse range of systems. Combined with the co-location and specialist seminar programme Plant & Asset Management 2012 will be a truly unique event not to be missed by anyone with a vested interest in maintenance.”

Darrell Moffatt, part of the sales team at Abbey Wood Marketing added: “As the UK comes out of the deepest recession in living memory, there are encouraging signs that it is being led by a resurgent manufacturing sector.  Only companies that have ensured that their physical assets – the plant and machinery on which their businesses depend – are fit for purpose will benefit from the upturn.  The Plant & Asset Management Exhibition 2012, will deliver maintenance and asset management solutions that will enable UK manufacturing industry to take advantage of the opportunities offered by both established and emerging economies throughout the world.”

The show also has the support of key sector organisations, including The Institution of Plant Engineers, The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing, RoSPA, The British Fluid Power Association, British Compressed Air Society, The Institution of Diagnostic Engineers, and the Integrated Maintenance Centre at Cranfield University.
