Some of the world’s leading engineering and manufacturing companies will be connecting with SMEs at the EMCON engineering and manufacturing showcase in September.
With less than three months before the event, which will be held at Sunderland Live in Houghton-le-Spring on September 18, buyers from across the manufacturing and engineering landscape have signed up to meet North East suppliers at EMCON’s Meet The Buyer sessions.
Among the buyers already attending are: Stadler Rail; Siemens Energy; Nissan; RED Scientific; European Metal Recycling; Walker Filtration and Sellafield.

Services and products in demand from these companies include welding, software development, milling, turning, injection moulding, casting and digital twin development.
Suppliers and buyers are invited to submit an expression of interest to be a part of Meet The Buyer. The sessions will help major manufacturers to strengthen their local supply chains and spark new opportunities for regional SMEs.
EMCON, which has been running for 18 years, is organised by Engineering and Manufacturing Network (EMN).
EMN is a long-standing cross-sector network dedicated to building and strengthening North East England’s engineering and manufacturing community. It has members stretching across the region, from SMEs to PLCs and the www.EMCON.show draws visitors and exhibitors from across the North of England and Southern Scotland.
Ailsa Anderson, Director of Development at EMN, said: “The Meet the Buyer format was welcomed back to the EMCON programme in 2024, and we’re delighted that it is returning for this year’s event.

“The programme facilitates face-to-face interactions between buyers and SMEs, giving them the opportunity to discuss challenges and solutions.
“We’re proud that EMCON will once again be playing a key role in supporting businesses to strengthen their local supply chains, which is vitally important in helping to build business resilience, reduce carbon emissions and reduce costs.”
EMCON, which is supported by headline sponsor MEC Machine Tools in Middlesbrough, is set to feature more than 100 exhibitors, including companies specialising in fabrication, automation, robotics, software, training and maintenance and is expected to attract around 1000 visitors. Gold Sponsor for the event is Business Durham, a long-term supporter of both EMCON and EMN.
The event has a well-established conference programme and this year will feature a range of speakers from across industry. The conference programme will also include forum sessions on maintenance and entering new markets such as the space and defence sectors.
Suppliers and buyers are invited to register for meetings at the EMCON Meet The Buyer programme, which will run from 9am to 4pm on September 18 at Sunderland Live Arena, by visiting: https://emcon.show/meet-the-buyer/
