Mettler Toledo will showcase its latest product inspection technologies at PPMA Show 2026, taking place from 22 to 24 September at the NEC Birmingham

The “Inspect. Protect. Comply.” theme will bring together the key priorities shaping modern manufacturing quality control. At Booth D84, Mettler Toledo will show how manufacturers can inspect products with confidence, protect consumers, brands and productivity, and comply easily with retailer, regulatory and audit requirements through connected, data-led inspection technologies.

At the stand, Mettler Toledo specialists will demonstrate how checkweighing, metal detection, x-ray inspection and data management software can work together to support more reliable quality control across demanding production environments. The systems showcased for the first time in the United Kingdom will include the M50 R-Series metal detection platform and the X12 x-ray inspection system. These will be complemented by the C23 checkweighing solution, and ProdX™ data management software.

NEW: Advanced metal detection with the M50 R-Series

Visitors will experience the inaugural showcase of the M50 R-Series AdvancedLine metal detection platform in the UK. The system has been developed for food manufacturers of unpackaged and packaged, wet, dry or bulk products looking to balance high sensitivity detection with productivity, traceability and audit readiness.

A 10.1 inch capacitive touchscreen provides an intuitive user experience and works even when users are wearing gloves or when the screen is wet. The new INFINITY Electronic Test System (ETS) represents a significant advance in routine testing, automating essential processes and improving productivity. Brand protection is enhanced through Radio-frequency identification (RFID) access control which supports individual user logins, with instant access to on-screen details in the user’s preferred language. These latest metal detectors include secure connectivity, and deliver the most sensitive, compliant, and future-ready metal detection platform from Mettler Toledo to date. Even with these new and advanced features and functionality, ease of use has remained at the centre of the design.

Built around three core pillars of performance, productivity, and protection, the M50 R-Series supports manufacturers in delivering safer products by detecting the smallest of metal contaminants, keeping good products moving, and protecting more than just the product.

Precise and Complete Inspection for Small to Medium Products

Mettler Toledo to Bring Inspect. Protect. Comply. Innovation Theme to PPMA Show 2026

A key focus on the stand will be the X12 x-ray inspection system, which will demonstrate how x-ray technology can support manufacturers working with increasingly complex products, packaging formats and production demands.

The X12 is a high performing, single-lane x-ray inspection for small to medium packaged products. As part of the X2 Series, the X12 has cutting edge detection capabilities with its HiGain detector providing accurate detection at an incredible price point. The system detects a wide range of physical contaminants, including metal, glass, mineral stone, calcified bone and high-density plastics, depending on the product and application. In addition to foreign body detection, the X12 can support further product and packaging quality checks, helping manufacturers identify issues such as missing, damaged or incomplete products.

By combining contaminant detection with additional product quality checks, the X12 supports manufacturers in inspecting products with confidence, protecting brand reputation and maintaining production efficiency.

Visitors to the booth can also learn about the latest artificial intelligence innovations for integrity checks with Mettler Toledo x-ray inspection systems.

Reliable checkweighing for product control

The C23 PlusLine Checkweigher will demonstrate how accurate in-line weighing can help manufacturers identify underfilled and overfilled products, reduce product giveaway and support compliance with weights and measures requirements.

Designed for heavy-load checkweighing applications, the C23 combines robust construction with dependable weighing performance and can be integrated into a wide range of production lines. It is suited to manufacturers handling larger packs, cartons and heavier products, where weighing accuracy, line reliability and product handling are central to production control.

With a weighing range of up to 80 kilograms, the C23 can also support end-of-line completeness checks, helping manufacturers verify that products or cartons meet specification before they leave the line.

By giving operators visibility of weight trends, checkweighing can help production teams respond quickly to fill-level variation, reduce avoidable product loss and maintain greater consistency across the line.

Connected data and compliance with ProdX

Mettler Toledo will also highlight ProdX, its product inspection data management software, as part of a connected approach to production line control.

ProdX connects product inspection devices into a centralised system, helping manufacturers collect, manage and access inspection data more easily. It automates the monitoring, reporting and collation of inspection activities in real time, supporting secure record keeping, traceability and simplified audit readiness.

By reducing reliance on manual paperwork and standardising inspection records, ProdX™ helps manufacturers strengthen documentation, provide clear proof of due diligence and improve visibility of inspection performance. Securely stored data can also support faster investigations, better line-level insight and more data-driven decisions that help improve performance and productivity.

“PPMA Show is an important opportunity for UK manufacturers to see how product inspection technologies can support quality, productivity and compliance in a practical production setting,” said Mike Pipe, Head of Product Inspection UK, Mettler Toledo. “Our Inspect. Protect. Comply. theme reflects the pressures manufacturers face every day: inspecting products accurately, protecting consumers and brand reputation, and maintaining clear evidence for audits and compliance. By demonstrating checkweighing, metal detection, x-ray inspection and connected data management together, we can show how a more joined-up approach to product inspection helps manufacturers improve line control, reduce risk and protect profitability.”

Visitors can experience live demonstrations and speak with Mettler Toledo product inspection specialists at PPMA Show 2026, Booth D84, from 22 to 24 September at the NEC Birmingham.
