Weldability-Sif, the UK based “one stop” welding product source, has launched a new series of rutile coated electrodes SifChrome 308L, SifChrome 312, SifChrome 316L and SifChrome 316L CRYO from their Sifbronze brand of welding products. SifChrome is suitable for welding fillet joints in the horizontal/vertical position, as the titanium oxide in the electrode coating makes these electrodes easy to strike and produce a smooth arc with little spatter, together with a good weld appearance and self-releasing slag.

Started in 1925, Sifbronze has been manufacturing welding consumables and servicing the welding industry for 87 years and are now the only, UK owned source of welding consumables.

The new SifChrome range consists of the following product types and all of these welding electrodes are supplied in hermetically sealed cans.

SifChrome 308L is designed to weld austenitic stainless steels (304) in dairy and cold storage applications and has a U.T.S (Ultimate Tensile Strength) >550N/mm2. This electrode is available in 2.5mm, 3.2mm and 4.0mm diameters.

SifChrome 312 contains a high level of Cr/Ni for the welding of difficult-to-weld steels such as armour plate, austenitic Mn steel, high carbon and Cr/Ni steels and has a U.T.S > 800N/mm2. It is available in 2.5mm, 3.2mm 4.0mm diameters.

SifChrome 316L is designed to weld molybdenum alloyed 18/12 and similar Cr/Ni/Mo steels producing welds with high resistance against general and intergranular corrosion and has a U.T.S > 550N/mm2. It is available in 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.2mm and 4.mm diameters

SifChrome 316L CRYO is a 316L low grade carbon stainless steel electrode that is suitable for applications where the mechanical requirements are tough as the weld produced has a good impact toughness at low temperatures and a high resistance to cracking with a U.T.S > 550N/mm2. It is available in 2.5mm and 3.2mm diameters.
