So far it was complicated and expensive to produce a double crossing switch in Roller-Conveyors. Now it’s easy and economical.
Since Avancon SA in Switzerland has successfully developed a brick
for building crossings and diverters the demands increase continuously.
Many new applications were required and mostly the new OTU (“Omni- directional Transfer Unit”), as they call it, was the right proposal for solving all the questions.
What is OTU? It is a building brick with two powered rollers, which are movable horizontal into any direction through a be (see image 1) vel gear. The bevel gear is driven by timing belts from one brick to the other. OTU-Lines can be combined and use together only one BLDC-Motor. This reduces drastically the cost.
Then there is a pinion drive for moving the two rollers in the desired direction, powered by a rack, which combines all OTU- bricks in a line and this is also powered by only one BLDC-Motor.
Here is the new double-crossing switch. (See image 2 and 3). It is flexible in width and length, depending on the largest goods to be transported. It moves goods from both sides whether direct straight in line or crossing from one line diagonal to the other, and that in both ways. The speed is adjustable from 0.3 ms to 1.5 ms. The Roller-Pitch is 75 mm or 37.5 mm.
Interesting is also the low hight of the whole construction, which is only 200 mm. That means, it is possible to install two conveyor lines on top of each other. There is nothing that could disturb, like mechanism to move up or down or pneumatics or hydraulics.
This double-crossing switch fits into any conveyor construction, although it best into the avancon ZPC-Conveyor Concept.
