Technical Conference Workshop (2 day event)
The Combustion Engineering Association (CEA) have been running a series of conferences to help industry understand the changes that the HSE guidance, INDG 436 in the Safe Management of Industrial Steam and Hot Water Boilers has emphasised.
Since October 2011 when PM5 was replaced by the HSE INDG 436 and supported by BG01 the CEA have carried out a number of conference workshops across the country in support of these guidance documents.
BG01 has become recognised as industrial best practice for steam and hot water boilers, and as part of BG01 the legal requirement to carry out a “Technical Boilerhouse Risk Assessment” under the Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (MHSWR) has been highlighted.
Delegates attending previous conferences requested further support from CEA to help them understand what is required to comply with the law and who needs to do what within the organisation. Having responded to this request CEA and its members created the conference workshop for boilerhouse technical risk assessments to achieve compliance with BG01.
This workshop will be running through what is required to carry out the Technical Boiler House Risk Assessment in detail. However, so that everybody is clear, this is not a slips trips and falls risk assessment that a health and safety representative would carry out. It is as the title states “Technical” and will require a small team of staff to complete the assessment thoroughly on site.
It is therefore essential for owners, operators and managers to ensure their staff are aware of the risks and their respective responsibilities for the safe operation and management of industrial steam and hot water boiler plant.
