Supply chain consultancy, Vendigital, has strengthened its team of industry specialists with the appointment of Iain Gillespie. Iain is joining the team as senior consultant, and will be supporting supply chain operations across the firm’s key industry sectors.

In his new role, Iain will be working with a leading publisher. He is also aiming to develop a new media group at the firm and is hoping to bring in new contracts and develop the business.

Speaking specifically about issues affecting the media sector, Iain said: “Within the media world, the move from print to digital represents a significant challenge. As newspaper sales revenues decrease and people move to a digitally-based consumption model, products and services provided will need to change radically. Businesses in the sector need to find a way to remain competitive and part of the solution will lie in their supply chains. Longer-term strategic relationships will need to be established and the expected increase in industry consolidation will require some novel thinking. I am looking forward to joining the team at Vendigital and bringing my passion for problem-solving to a new set of challenges.”

Roy Williams, managing director at Vendigital, added: “Iain’s experience brings a fresh perspective on how to resolve supply chain issues that form a barrier to improving business performance. He has proven success of leading low-cost sourcing initiatives as well as using various e-commerce tools and approaches to deliver supply chain value across a wide-range of industry sectors.”

Vendigital is a specialist supply chain consultancy that works with FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies across a host of established and emerging industry sectors – from aerospace and automotive to manufacturing and the media.
