Halifax company Pennine Pneumatic Services (PPS) has won the Atlas Copco Compressors’ Distributor of the Year Award 2013. The accolade was received for successfully exceeding its sales targets for the year, achieving recession-busting sales of Atlas Copco products topping £1m.

One of the company’s key strengths is its dedicated staff whose teamwork has played a major part in the PPS success story, culminating in winning this award.

An authorised premier Atlas Copco Compressors distributor for more than 20 years, PPS specialises in the design, supply, installation and after sales service of industrial and automotive compressed air systems to customers in Yorkshire and across the UK. It services customers in a variety of sectors including the automotive, manufacturing, food, engineering, pharmaceutical, textile and chemical industries.

“PPS moved the boundaries with their performance in 2013, during which they surpassed expectations for compressor sales in what is a very competitive marketplace,” comments Paul Clark, business line manager of Atlas Copco’s industrial air division. “Managing director Gary Whitaker, sales director Leighton Harris and the highly experienced team at PPS are totally committed to sales and service and this combined with their keen understanding of customers’ needs in the local area has contributed to winning this well-deserved accolade.”

The West Yorkshire company has a dedicated energy audit department which carries out full-site air audits and leak surveys using the latest Atlas Copco iiTrak loggers to help its customers reduce energy consumption and save on bills.

“Stocking Atlas Copco compressor units, quality air products and spare parts directly contributed to us achieving the Distributor of the Year Award as it means we are able to anticipate and meet the needs of customers quickly and effectively,” explains Whitaker. “This, and the fact we are keenly aware of customers’ requirements for cost-effective and efficient compressed air solutions has set us apart from our competitors, leading to the success we enjoy today.”

The sales targets were achieved by making the most of the diverse offering of Atlas Copco compressed air equipment which encompasses compressors and ancillary products including in-line filters, compressed air dryers, oil condensate removal systems and pipe work installations in addition to parts, maintenance and services that contribute to more efficient compressed air systems.

In 2013 PPS quickly identified the potential of the new GA VSD+ small compressor range which offers compressed air users breakthrough energy savings of up to 50%. This was a critical part of its success last year, with the company providing 25 new units to local industry.

Having relaunched its website last year, PPS is well placed to supply customers with Atlas Copco and other products whether online, by phone on in person at the company’s well-stocked trade counter.
