With over 100 years of technical expertise in the timber industry John Brash is the UK’s leading manufacturer of graded timber roofing battens, shingles & shakes, scaffold boards and commercial anti-slip decking. The company takes great pride in numerous tributes including British Board of Agrément, ISO 9001 and Kitemark accreditations.  John Brash has also achieved WPA Benchmark approval for treated wood and is the only company to receive the Benchmark certification for fire treatments.

As such at the head office in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire they are always looking to set the best standards and recently have invested in a fleet of nine sideloaders from Bulmor Lancer. The replacement programme integrated a valued single source total logistic solution especially in the form of ongoing maintenance, all repairs, safety inspections and support equipment. This solution produced major savings of resources for John Brash coupled with continual optimisation and minimal downtime of the fleet. The unique concept of the sideloader is absolutely ideal of course for the nature and shapes of the timber trade with inherent guaranteed advantages for health & safety compliance.

The Bulmor Lancer model in question is a compact heavy duty high bed “workhorse” Qr 50. John Brash were particularly attracted to this solution as a replacement for their fleet of 556 sideloaders as the Qr 50 matched the 556’s compact footprint with better manouvreability and the added value of the latest Perkins 4 cylinder engine which is recognized as a high performance standard throughout the industry.

The comfortable roomy cabin interior is of a sturdy metal construction and is fitted with operator-friendly features including adjustable air seat and pilot operated joystick control aided by pre-determined hydraulics.

Adding to the theme of operator comfort is tinted safety glass, a strengthened roof with unobstructed visibility and platform load protection grills. The chassis is of the usual heavy duty Bulmor design with the well width shortened by 150 mm to 1.350 mm which  results in a shorter wheelbase and therefore a very compact heavy duty truck . All of which noticeably increases agility in tight storage areas and the large wheel profile is a major benefit with an uneven environment. The components such as engine, transmission, wheel hub motors, mast and axles are from the regular and reliable Q-series and all of which combine to meet the professional requirements of John Brash.
