Companies interested in improving health and safety in the workplace are being invited to a one off event as part of European Health and Safety week. Enterprise Europe Network Yorkshire has teamed up with Bradford Area Occupational Health and Safety Forum to encourage ‘healthy workplaces’.

The event will take place on the morning of 25th October at Bradford City Hall where delegates will be able to explore what managers can do to actively reduce risk.  It will also offer practical help and guidance to companies, managers, organisations, workers and their representatives on how they can work together to enhance health and safety in the workplace.

Delegates will hear from a variety of speakers including Louise Brearey from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), about how collaboration between management and workers helped successfully deliver the construction project on the London 2012 Olympic Park.

Other speakers include locally based company Wincanton, who manage the region’s logistics for Marks and Spencer; they will discuss practical suggestions on successful leadership management.

Managers from chemicals company BASF and trade union GMB will also illustrate the benefits of partnership working in a case study involving worker participation.

Along with the hints and tips from local speakers delegates will be given the chance to participate in a workshop exercise about managing risk and receive feedback on areas requiring focus.

Safety and health at work is everyone’s concern.  It’s good for you.  It’s good for business.

‘Healthy Workplaces’ is part of a two year campaign 2012-2013 organised by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA).  The campaign is designed to help companies evaluate and reduce workplace risks throughout the whole supply chain. Working Together for Risk Prevention is at the heart of the campaign.
