Amtek Plastics was one of Newton Abbots best kept secrets within the world of manufacturing.  Since being formed nearly 10 years ago as a manufacturer of bespoke plastic injection moulded products and components.

Amtek Plastics Ltd is very proud to be a part of the expanding UK Manufacturing industry, and is currently growing at a fantastic rate month on month with a great start to 2015. This expansion is down to two sectors – One is forging excellent relationships with forward thinking clients, helping them to expand and develop their business, which in turn, helps Amtek Plastics to develop. The other is assisting new clients on a daily basis to introduce new and exciting products to their market place. Amtek works with clients in a variety of industries from medical to construction, agriculture to automotive, sanitation to security, and beyond and their clients’ products can be seen on a daily basis by everyone.

With the expansion of the business, Amtek has been able to re-invest in a new distribution and administration centre which will help them to provide an even more streamlined solution for their clients.  This now gives Amtek Plastics two locations on Heathfield Industrial Estate in Devon.  Unlike many others, they hold stock for their clients, which have facilitated the need for a dedicated warehouse and distribution centre. This has also enabled Amtek to expand their administration and office space with a new suite of purpose built offices.  Despite this growth Amtek is now on the lookout for even more space as they are currently manufacturing over 100 pallets of products per week.

Amtek Plastics are currently running 24 hours, 7 days a week.  This has resulted in an increase in capacity by another 50% compared to where the business was 3 months ago.  Added to this, two new ENGLE plastic injection moulding machines have been bought in the last quarter of 2015 to ensure more products can be produced and meet the increasing demand for 2015.

UK Manufacturing is certainly picking up momentum once more due to re-shoring.  Re-shoring is the process of manufacturing companies within the UK, bringing the manufacture of their products and components back from the Far East to the UK for a variety of reasons.  Some of these reasons include faster turnaround times, greater communication, higher quality and the narrowing of the price gap.

“We have experienced many of our customers carrying out the process of re-shoring back to us here in Newton Abbot.  This helps increase efficiencies within our clients’ businesses, which in turn means that they become more profitable.  This can only be a good thing for Newton Abbot, Devon and the rest of the UK manufacturing industry in general.”
