CompAir and Hydrovane have launched a competition to find the UK’s oldest working compressors, with the two lucky winners bagging a weekend for two in London, including a meal at the City’s oldest restaurant.

The two brands, part of the Gardner Denver group, pride themselves on the reliability and durability of their equipment and, to mark their engineering heritage are encouraging anyone who has a CompAir or Hydrovane compressor that’s in its ‘roaring twenties’, ‘triumphant at thirty’ or even ‘fab at forty’, to step forward.

The competition is free to enter at www.oldestcompressor.co.uk for all UK businesses.  All entrants will also be entitled to a free energy audit from an authorised distributor, helping customers to identify their current energy usage and assess their compressed air needs.

Compressors are often the forgotten heroes of the industrial world; so all entrants are encouraged to share any interesting facts about their equipment, which may then be shared online.

Commenting on the launch, Colin Mander, regional director for Gardner Denver said:  “When it comes to compressed air, it’s safe to say we know our stuff! The origins of CompAir can be traced back to two British companies, Holman and BroomWade, with over 200 years of experience in the market place, whereas Hydrovane has designed and developed rotary vane compressors since the swinging sixties.

“Both companies are now owned by Gardner Denver, a leading, global provider of high-quality industrial equipment, technologies and services that was founded in 1859.

“Our brands have been consistently at the forefront of compressed air systems’ development, culminating in some of the most energy efficient compressors on the market today.

“We want to celebrate this long-lasting technology and great British engineering, and what better way to do it then by finding the oldest CompAir and Hydrovane compressors still in operation in the UK?”

To enter the competition, visit www.oldestcompressor.co.uk before the 4th April 2014 when entries close. The two winners will be announced at the     Air-Tech exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham, between the 8th-10th April 2014.
