The development of cleaner, safer and more efficient manufacturing, construction and mining equipment will be enhanced thanks to research, development and innovation at Atlas Copco, supported with financing from the European Investment Bank.

Atlas Copco’s activities in research, development and innovation, are based in Sweden and Belgium. These involve close cooperation with European universities and research institutes, helping to disseminate cutting-edge technologies.

Under an agreement signed in Luxembourg, the EIB will provide a €275m loan to Atlas Copco, the compressors, construction and mining equipment, power tools and assembly systems specialist.

As part of Atlas Copco’s long-term funding programme, the loan supports the development of more efficient, environmentally friendly as well as safer products.

“We are glad to sign this agreement with Atlas Copco, a global technology leader in these fields, as it supports innovation in a key area and will bring major benefits in terms of lower emissions, improved energy efficiency and enhanced worker safety,” said Wilhelm Molterer, EIB vice president responsible for Sweden, at the signing ceremony.
