Zizo, a leading provider of big data and Edge analytics, has been selected – for the second year running – as one of the 100 Edge Companies to Watch for 2023 by STL Partners, which puts a spotlight on businesses that have demonstrated exceptional innovation, agility, and potential in the rapidly growing edge computing market.

STL Partners is a telecoms consultancy that helps telecom operators and technology companies innovate, grow and stay ahead of the competition. The ‘100 Edge Companies to Watch’ list takes place yearly, with organisations included around the globe – from startups to those established in the ecosystem.

This year, STL Partners asked companies to provide more information on their financial milestones associated with edge computing, as well as for details on the practicalities of edge applications that they are enabling.

By doing so, the ‘2023 Edge Companies to Watch’ list was able to chart the increase in maturity of edge offerings, with more companies seeing significant revenue streams coming from their edge portfolio. It also highlights the increased range of Edge use-cases being enabled by this technology, from global manufacturing operations, to retail, to V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communication.

Zizo has been included in the 2023 Edge Companies to Watch, and is specifically positioned in the Edge ecosystem within application and software (analytics & application programming interface – APIs).

Over the past year, Zizo has acquired several new customers for their Edge platform, including BAT (British American Tobacco) and Safran Landing Systems. At British American Tobacco, Zizo is providing its Edge analytics solution to support the development and deployment of connected experimental devices, providing point solutions for the analysis and transfer of data between systems. This approach has reduced development time by a third, and also reduced the workload on BAT’s technical staff.

Furthermore, working with Safran Landing Systems, Zizo has developed a portable Edge industrial internet of things (IIoT) analysis platform to aid the assembly of aircraft landing gear, following their partnership on the Made Smarter Technology Accelerator Programme. Safran Landing Systems wanted to explore advanced technology solutions that can provide better visibility of the assembly line processes, which Zizo provided through its end-to-end connected Edge device, which can offer big data capabilities without requiring access to the cloud.

Peter Ruffley, CEO, Zizo, comments: “The team at Zizo are honoured to be recognised as one of STL Partners’ Edge Companies to Watch in 2023, among the world’s elite in Edge and technology. The Edge industry is continuing to expand and innovate, and it’s an exciting space to be involved in. We can’t wait to continue to demonstrate the power of Edge analytics and what is possible to do with data.”

Tilly Gilbert, Principal Consultant and Edge Practice Lead at STL Partners concludes: “2022 was a very exciting year from an edge computing perspective with a raft of new product leases, partnership announcements and, of course, deployments. This is the second year that Zizo has been featured by us as a company making waves in this space and its great to see their development as they gain new customers and enable new use cases. Handling data collection and analytics at the edge is a key element to many use cases and Zizo has been working effectively on this for some time”.
