Beko Technologies has launched its Mobile Metpoint measuring unit. Up until now the company’s Metpoint OCV has been used by customers required to have a regular in-line monitoring of the residual hydrocarbon vapour in their compressed air stream. However, following several inquiries about the possibility of measuring multiple points several times a year, Beko introduced Mobile Metpoint.
The device has multiple measuring modes and will measure the following parameters including residual oil content (in the form of vapour); pressure dewpoint; temperature; relative humidity in percentage; and operating pressure in bar (g).
The unit should be installed on systems behind oil free compressors or systems which include well maintained carbon filtration because the unit is so sensitive and will measure down to 0.003ppm of oil vapour in the line, well below ISO 8573-1 Class 1 for oil.
The reason for taking the measurements are that the air entering a compressor contains hydrocarbon vapours which will not be captured by a filtration system, only by a carbon filter or better a carbon tower. This is not to say that oil free compressors do not do what they are specified to do, merely that no one can control the quality of the ambient air.
Beko will install the unit for the required test period, remove it and then provide detailed information on the measured results.
